An article in the Rocky Mountain News titled "For soldiers, gratitude and praise from an Iraqi mayor" tells of the mayor of Tal Afar, Iraq, Najim Al Jibouri, traveling to Colo. Springs, and speaking for 20 minutes to the 3rd ACR at Fort Carson (CO). He thanked them for saving his city from almost certain ruin, and ridding it of most of its insurgents.

While there are many Iraqis who want us to leave, there are also a lot of them who do appreciate what we have done for their country, and, I suspect, will think of us highly for years to come.
