A great article in Popular Mechanics telling of: The Next Atomic Age. Shortly, the remaining Generation II nuclear reactors in this country will have to shut down, as they hit their expected lifetimes. The DOE is looking at six different Generation IV reactors to replace them. Of particular note, are pebble-bed reactors that automatically, and intrinsicly, shut down before gowing out of control.
