Ann Althouse today is photoblogging, showing how wet Madison is today. Unfortunately, my digital camera is on the blink, or I would counterpost from Dillon, CO. I was just sitting out on the porch, looking down on the lake, and up at the 10 Mile range. In the last couple of weeks, the lake ice has cleared completely, and at the marina right below us, they are getting boats ready for the water. The lake is perfectly still right now, as it usually is in the morning - almost like glass. The lake is right at 9,000 feet, so I am maybe a hundred feet above that. Even the snow piles from the roof and clearing the parking lots has cleared completely now. But the 10 Mile range has snow from about 10,000 feet all the way up to their peaks above 13,000 ft. - but only about 90% of them are covered. This range is nice, because the lower half of the mountains have trees (mostly beetle invested Lodge Pole Pine), and the top halves are above treeline.

The sky is typical Colorado blue - and I think the higher you go, the bluer our skies get. There is one tiny wisp of a cloud coming over from Vail, and that is it. According to the digital thermometer, the temp. is 44, but the analog one shows 50. I expect almost 70 later today. You are already seeing a lot of T-shirts and shorts by mid-day. (Though there are some who wear shorts year round here, including when it is near zero outside).

In other words, another beautiful boring day in paradise. (One woman friend of my mother moved back to MA because our weather was too boringly good for her).
